Chuck Pozzo
UUWA CEO & Local 200 Director |

Chuck
began his career with Calgary Power in January 1973 as an assistant
lineman in Red Deer. After his probationary period he was
transferred to the new construction crew in Olds. After working
there for a few years he transferred to operations in Vauxhall where
he remained for the next 30 years or more.
While in Vauxhall, Chuck became very active in the community:
° Kinsmen Club - (President, District Deputy Governor) 12 yrs
° Town council - (elected 6 terms) 17 yrs
° Lead negotiator (Management) for 3 successful negotiations with CUPE
° Director of Emergency Services - 15 yrs
° Volunteer Firefighter - 30 yrs
° Fire Chief - 15yrs
° Emergency Medical Technician - 10 yrs After 30 years in Vauxhall, the Pozzos seemed to be running out of
things to do so they decided to move on. Chuck transferred to the
Cardston service point and built a log home at Police Outpost
Provincial Park.
Chuck is married to Terry, whom he says has stuck it out with him
since 1972. [Ed. Note: Quite a feat]. Chuck and Terry have four
children (Shawn, Shannon, Chad, Greg) and 2 grandchildren who enjoy
going to the cabin and fishing.
Chuck has been a Unit Coordinator off and on over the years. He was
a member of the 2007 UUWA Local 200 Bargaining Committee. He has
previously served on the Board of Directors. Chuck returned to the
Board as a Director of Local 200 in September 2008 and was elected
by the Board in October 2008 to be the CEO. Chuck’s previous time on
the Board and many years of experience on Town Council will serve
him well in his role as CEO.

Sonia Piche
President Local 100 |
|

I started with TransAlta Utilities in August 1995 as one of
TransAlta's temporary employees. Back in the day, TransAlta had
their own pool of temporary employees, kinda like a Temp Agency.
I started at Sundance as a Temporary Receptionist. I was asked if I
would like to become a Unit Coordinator and training would be
provided. I thought I like challenging endeavors and learning new
things, I'll give it a try. I was Unit Coordinator for 13 years.
Well going on my 15th year of employment, I'm still involved with
the Association. I have been the President of Local 100 for the last
6 years.
Part of my commitment to the membership is making sure that the
Employer follows the Collective Agreement. I have been on the
Bargaining Committee and Ballot Committee throughout the years.
My husband's name is Romeo and we've been married since October
1977. We have three children, Nathan, Clinton, Derrick and 2
fabulous grandchildren (Aydin and Raeya). When the boys were growing
up I was involved in all their activities. I was a soccer coach,
baseball assistant coach, on the Board of Directors for Stony Plain
Football (organizing football in Stony Plain), on the Board of
Directors for Stony Plain Minor Hockey, and team manager for
multiple hockey teams at one time or another. When our children left
home we had to fill the house, it was just too quiet. So we decided
to get involved as foster parents to give under-privileged children
a chance.

Greg Topola
President Local 200 |
|

Greg was elected as President of Local 200 in September 2007 after
having served as a Director for 4 years. He has been active as a
Unit Coordinator since 1998, a position he assumed after having
served as a Job Discipline Representative for a few years. Greg has
been a member of two UUWA Bargaining Committees (2005 and 2007). He
has participated in several training opportunities provided through
the UUWA and he continues to advance his skills and knowledge in
order to do his best for the membership.
Some of his goals include getting more members involved and educated
regarding the Association and member’s rights. In dealings with
management, he feels that open, honest communication from all sides
is key to shared success.
Greg has 25 years of construction and operations experience as a
Power Line Technician, and is currently in Fortis Operations in
Athabasca.
In his free time, he loves spending as much time as possible with
his family at their home in Athabasca and their cabin at Calling
Lake.
